Marc Skinner Departs Manchester United Women Ahead of WSL Season
Manchester United have confirmed that head coach Marc Skinner has departed the club by mutual agreement, just one month before the start of the 2026/27 Women’s Super League season.
The 41‑year‑old was appointed in 2021 and spent four years in charge, overseeing the team’s growth and delivering the club’s first major trophy in women’s football – the FA Cup victory in 2024.
In a statement released on Monday, the club praised Skinner’s contribution:
“Marc Skinner has departed his role as head coach of Manchester United Women by mutual agreement.”

The statement added that Skinner “leaves having made a significant contribution to the continued progress of Manchester United Women.”
United finished fourth in the WSL last season, 15 points behind champions Manchester City. The new campaign kicks off on September 4 with an away fixture against London City Lionesses.
The club will now begin the search for a successor as preparations continue for the upcoming season. Skinner’s exit marks the end of a tenure that helped establish Manchester United Women as a competitive force in English women’s football.
