A suspected arms dealer vanished after receiving ₦95 million from a bandit leader in Katsina State, who had been promised the delivery of sophisticated weapons.
The incident is said to have taken place in Matazu Local Government Area, where the middleman allegedly collected the funds and then disappeared without delivering any firearms. The story has drawn considerable online interest because of the atypical nature of the botched arms transaction.
Abdullahi Aliyu, also called General and the legislator for Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency, revealed the details in an NTA Hausa interview, noting that the suspect has not resurfaced since pocketing the cash.

Aliyu connected the episode to growing unrest along the Matazu corridor, claiming that notorious bandit chief Kachalla Maha abandoned prior peace accords after the unsuccessful deal.
He added that the militant group has escalated its demands on surrounding settlements, levying steep fines and seizing livestock from residents, which has further deteriorated safety in the region.
His statement has sparked renewed debate over the illicit weapons market and how it fuels banditry throughout Nigeria’s northwest.
