Dele Momodu Says 2027 Election Will Be Easy for Tinubu If He Shows Performance Record
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Dele Momodu, has stated that the 2027 presidential election will not be a tough contest for President Bola Tinubu, provided he can present a convincing record of his accomplishments to the Nigerian electorate.
Momodu urged members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to shift their focus from attacking political opponents to highlighting the administration’s achievements. He believes that showcasing tangible results is the key to winning voter confidence.
He also criticised the APC for its habitual tendency to blame previous administrations for the country’s economic and governance challenges. According to Momodu, this self‑destructive narrative harms the party’s image and distracts from its own responsibilities.
“The 2027 election will not be difficult for Tinubu if he can show the records of his performance. Nobody hates him personally. It is about performance. Present your scorecards,” Momodu said. He added that he has never witnessed a party so aggressively disparaging its own predecessors as the APC does.
Reacting to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent comment that choosing Atiku Abubakar as his running mate was his greatest political mistake, Momodu remarked that Obasanjo remains opposed to Atiku’s ambition to become Nigeria’s president.
“I believe Chief Obasanjo does not want Atiku’s presidential dream to materialise,” Momodu concluded.
