FCT Now Operates Like a Full State – Akpabio Commends Wike and Tinubu
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his work in developing the nation’s capital.
Speaking at a commissioning event where he represented President Bola Tinubu, Akpabio said the FCT now functions as a full‑fledged state.
He pointed out that the territory now boasts an active Head of Service, numerous parastatals, permanent secretaries, coordinators of satellite‑town development and other agencies, all put in place under the Wike‑led administration.
According to Akpabio, this achievement is the result of President Tinubu’s support and Minister Wike’s dedication.
“We have many distinguished personalities present, but let me turn to the host of the FCT, Nyesom Wike – ‘Mr Project.’ That nickname was given by the President, not by me,” Akpabio said. “My brother, the Minister of the FCT, Wike, and his children are witnessing the miracle their father is performing in the territory.”
He continued, “When you were introduced you were called the former chairman of Obiakpor, but you are also known as the former governor of Rivers State and former minister of Education. This is your second coming as a minister.”
Akpabio added, “Through your efforts and Mr President’s leadership, the FCT now has many parastatals. I have seen the Head of Service, permanent secretaries, coordinators of satellite‑town development and all the agencies operating in the territory. In fact, the FCT is now operating like a full state, thanks to Tinubu and the Minister of the FCT.”
