Éric Chelle Boosts Super Eagles Squad for Unity Cup
Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has handed late call‑ups to winger Yira Collins Sor and defender Tijani Al-Ameen as the team’s preparations intensify for next week’s Unity Cup in London.
Sor and Al-Ameen Receive Late Invitations
KRC Genk winger Sor returns to the national team after appearing in Nigeria’s March friendlies against Iran and Jordan, making his debut in the 2‑2 draw with Jordan. Al-Ameen, who has impressed for Shooting Stars in the Nigeria Premier Football League this season, earned his spot following a series of strong defensive performances.
Tournament Path and Ola Aina Update
Chelle had initially named a 27‑man squad, but Swedish club AIK refused to release winger Zadok Yohanna. The coach is set to depart Abuja for London today, May 22, alongside the home‑based players and his technical staff.
Nigeria will face Zimbabwe in the semi‑final at The Valley on Tuesday. The winner will meet either India or Jamaica in the final scheduled for Saturday, May 30.
Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has resumed training ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match against AFC Bournemouth. Forest manager Vítor Pereira confirmed Aina’s return after missing several games due to an injury sustained against Aston Villa on April 30.
