Destiny Etiko Loses ₦5 Million on First Football Bet, Says Anxiety Almost Killed Her
Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko revealed that she lost ₦5 million after placing her very first bet on the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
In an emotional Instagram post shortly after the match ended on Sunday night, she described the experience as financially painful and emotionally draining.
She wrote, “First time betting and I lost. Will never try it again. My ₦5 million is gone. In fact, I’m done watching football. Anxiety almost killed me.”
The actress said the tension of watching the game with such a large sum at stake left her overwhelmed, and she has vowed never to gamble again.
Beyond the betting loss, Destiny Etiko also called out an unnamed colleague whose actions she described as deeply hurtful and damaging to her reputation.
Although she has forgiven the person, she admitted she cannot forget the betrayal, which has caused her personal pain and distress for her family.
Etiko added that her mother has been emotionally affected by the controversy and has been receiving numerous calls about the issue.
