Court Adjourns Jude Okoye Fraud Trial After Peter Okoye Misses Cross‑examination
The Federal High Court in Lagos postponed the fraud trial of Jude Okoye, former manager of the defunct music duo P‑Square, after Peter Okoye (Mr P) failed to attend his scheduled cross‑examination.
Peter, who is the nominal complainant in the case, was supposed to be questioned by the defence on Wednesday, but his flight from Abuja to Lagos was rescheduled, preventing his appearance.
Jude Okoye and his company, Northside Music Limited, face charges of allegedly defrauding ₦1.3 billion and $1 million. Both defendants have denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty.
Prosecution counsel G. Akaogu told the court that Peter had contacted him to explain the travel change and requested a new date for the cross‑examination.
Defence counsel Clement Onwuewunor, SAN, disputed the explanation, saying he received the information while near the court and claimed an impeccable source indicated Peter was already in Lagos that evening.
After hearing both sides, Justice Alexander Owoeye adjourned the matter until 21 September 2026 for further proceedings, meaning Peter’s cross‑examination will resume on that date, subject to his availability.
