Charly Boy Says 48‑Year Marriage Feels Boring, Calls It ‘Management’
Veteran Nigerian entertainer Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has joked that after nearly five decades of marriage to the same woman, his union has become boring.
He likened the situation to eating the same egusi soup every day, saying it loses its flavour over time.
Marriage Is Constant Work
Charly Boy explained that disagreements are a normal part of any marriage. He described his relationship with his wife as a Tom and Jerry dynamic – they quarrel frequently but always settle their differences.
“All marriages are management, including my own. Me and my wife be like Tom and Jerry. We dey quarrel every day and we will continue to dey quarrel and settle am,” he said.
“The Devil You Know” Philosophy
Reflecting on his long‑term union, he referenced the popular saying, “the devil you know is better than the one you don’t know,” suggesting that familiarity, even with its flaws, holds value.
Comment on National Security and IPOB Leader
In other news, Charly Boy reacted to reports claiming President Bola Tinubu visited detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu in prison. He questioned whether any substantive discussion took place during the alleged visit.
The activist criticised the government for focusing on Kanu’s case while struggling to address broader security challenges, warning that Nigeria could face serious consequences if national security issues are not properly handled.
