Carlos Queiroz Confident Ahead of Ghana’s Panama Opener
Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has voiced confidence that the Black Stars are ready to make a strong start in their 2026 FIFA World Cup opening match against Panama.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Queiroz said the team had done their homework and were prepared to handle the challenge posed by the well‑organized Central American side.
Tactical Readiness
“We’re strong and we’ll showcase our strengths on the pitch,” Queiroz declared. He added that Panama is a competitive, well‑organised team, and that Ghana has identified solutions to neutralise their strengths while looking to exploit any weaknesses.
Drawing on Experience
The veteran Portuguese coach noted that the World Cup represents another major milestone in a career spanning decades and continents. He views the tournament as a chance to put all the lessons learned from players, fellow coaches, and his own decisions into practice.
“I hope God gives me the inspiration to make the right decisions, to use my experience and everything I have learned so far, so I can take the right steps at the right moment,” he said.
Fan Support in Toronto
Upon arrival in Toronto, the Black Stars received a rousing welcome from supporters who turned out in large numbers. Queiroz believes the backing from the stands could prove decisive when his players step onto the field.
“I hope that during the game we will hear the drums of Ghana for 90 minutes and let them accelerate the beat of our hearts,” he added, underscoring the motivational power of the fans.
With morale high and preparation thorough, Ghana aims to launch their World Cup campaign with a positive result against Panama.
