Businesswoman Claims She Lost Her Renovated Rental Space After Landlord Evicted Her

A businesswoman has captured widespread attention after recounting how she allegedly lost a commercial space she had heavily invested in following renovations.
In a video she posted online, she explained that she spent millions of naira turning a rented property into an appealing business venue.
She said that once the upgrades were finished and the premises increased in value, her landlord served her with a quit notice, claiming the building would be demolished.
After she moved out, she alleged that the landlord instead leased the property to another tenant at a higher rent, leaving her feeling exploited and financially ruined.
Undeterred, she relocated to another location, but after a period of time the landlord again requested that she vacate the premises.
She voiced her frustration about the difficulties faced by tenants and small business owners in Lagos, noting that repeated conflicts with landlords can erase years of hard work and investment. She added that the ordeal left her exhausted and discouraged.
“This is how I lost everything. I’m so tired. Lagos landlords will humble you. It’s from spending millions of Naira to renovate a space and landlords always trying to oppress or evict you. At my previous place the landlord gave us quit notice and claimed she wanted to use it for her personal use only to rent it to another person that was doing the same business. Then we had to downsize to a smaller place trying to recover all the losses. The landlord said he wanted to demolish it and said let’s pack out and gave us quit notice. At this point I’m tired…”
