Ahmed Galadima Wins APC Adamawa Governorship Ticket for 2027 Election
Ahmed Galadima has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Adamawa State for the 2027 election.
The announcement was made on Friday by the Chairman of the APC committee overseeing Adamawa’s Governorship Primary.
Galadima emerged as the frontrunner after three aspirants withdrew in his favour: Engr. Diaulhaq Abubakar, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, and Alhaji Ibrahim Bello Thul.
He resigned his position as Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) about two months earlier to pursue the APC governorship ticket.
In a separate development, the APC in Rivers State dismissed claims that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, influenced Governor Siminalayi Fubara to abandon his second‑term ambition.
Fubara announced his withdrawal in a personally signed statement on Wednesday night titled, “My Decision to Withdraw from the Rivers State Gubernatorial Primaries.”
He said the decision followed extensive consultations with family, friends, and political associates, adding that he would fully support whoever emerges as the party’s governorship candidate.
Fubara explained that his choice was driven by the need to prioritise peace, stability, and unity in Rivers State above personal ambition.
Speaking on the matter, the APC Publicity Secretary in Rivers State, Chibuike Ikenga, told ARISE Television that Fubara’s decision was based on an internal agreement and served the state’s interest.
Ikenga emphasised that, although Wike is a prominent figure in Rivers State and Nigeria, neither he nor any APC members played a role in the party’s decision regarding the governor’s ambition.
“We, the members of APC, discussed and took our decision solely on the agreement we had to chart another course, which is why the governor took that step for the interest of peace and progress of the state,” Ikenga stated.
