Uzor Arukwe Opens Up About His Silence After Alex Ekubo’s Death
Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has finally spoken about why he chose not to post publicly after the death of his colleague Alex Ekubo. In an emotional Instagram message, he explained that the right words simply did not come to him.
Arukwe recalled meeting Alex on the set of a film directed by Dabby Chimere, describing him from the start as warm, accommodating, and a true gentleman. He said Alex’s kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
The actor admitted that hearing stories from those who were closer to Alex humbled him, reminding him that people are remembered more for their character than for their fame.
He shared his inner struggle: “I’ve been quiet. I know some wondered why I didn’t post, share pictures, or write a caption. Some losses don’t announce themselves online; they settle inside you, making you shake your head and whisper, ‘Mba… not this person. Not Alex.’ You replay the moments, hoping for a call that says it was a mistake.”
For Arukwe, silence became his first response to the news because grief often lives quietly. He noted that not every farewell needs a social‑media post; some goodbyes are carried in prayer, in memories, and in the heart.
