A man has ignited online discussion after revealing the surprising reason he married his wife rather than another woman he claimed to love deeply during their courtship.

He explained that early in his romantic journey he was simultaneously involved with three different women.
The woman who became his wife was not his top choice at that time.
His story has drawn reactions from social media users, sparking debate about the importance of support, loyalty, and compatibility in partnerships.
A Challenging Phase
While describing his experience, he noted that his wife ranked lowest among the three women he was dating.
He recalled, “When I was dating this my wife, there were two other girls I was also seeing at the same time. Among the three, my wife was the least important to me. I didn’t even care about my wife then; it was one of the other two women I truly loved. One day I faced a serious problem and asked that woman for 5,000 naira. She replied that it is taboo for a woman to give a man money.”
The Turning Point
He went on to describe how the other women reacted when he sought help.
“The second woman, whom I’ll call her, didn’t even let me speak before she hung up. So I called the third woman, she gave me 10,000 naira. That moment changed my mindset.”
Reflecting on the episode, he shared his thoughts on what many men look for in a lasting relationship.
“All these women, if the only thing they can offer a man is physical intimacy, they will stay with him until he is about forty and still not marry him.”
The narrative has provoked mixed reactions online. Some users agree that standing by a partner during tough times can shape marriage decisions, while others contend that choosing a spouse should involve a broader set of considerations beyond a single incident.
