Atiku Leads ADC Presidential Primary in Yobe, Defeats Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has taken an early lead in the African Democratic Congress presidential primary, according to results released from Bolewa and Potiskum in Yobe State.
The returning officer announced that Atiku polled 740 votes, while former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi received 15 votes and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen secured only two votes.
All three candidates are contending for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
Amaechi cast his vote at his Ubima Ward in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State; Hayatu-Deen voted in Jare, Borno State; Atiku voted at the Ajiya Ward Polling Unit in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Atiku praised the conduct of the primary, describing it as democracy in action. He noted that the simultaneous voting across 8,809 wards nationwide represents a major step toward recovering Nigeria and setting it on a path to prosperity.
