Abdulaziz Ganduje Secures NDC Nomination Form for House of Representatives Seat
Abdulaziz Umar Ganduje, the eldest son of former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has picked up the nomination form to contest a House of Representatives seat under the banner of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He collected the form on Saturday, a move that underscores his long‑standing ties to the Kwankwasiyya political movement.
A video that went viral shows Abdulaziz in conversation with former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso shortly after obtaining the form, where he briefed Kwankwaso on his political ambitions and readiness for the upcoming general election.
Despite his father’s influential role in the APC, Abdulaziz has remained a loyal member of the Kwankwasiyya camp for years.
This development adds another layer to the enduring political rivalry between Abdullahi Ganduje and Rabiu Kwankwaso, who were once close allies in Kano before their relationship deteriorated.
Abdulaziz has kept a distance from his father’s political circle and consistently identified with the Kwankwasiyya movement, a stance that became more public after his involvement in a controversial dispute with his mother, Professor Hafsat Umar Ganduje.
He had previously petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged failed agreement involving his mother.
Abdulaziz is aiming for the same federal constituency seat that his brother, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, contested in 2023 under the APC ticket—a race his brother lost to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate, despite their father’s clout as governor at the time.
