A New York pastor recently surprised her congregation. She publicly announced her transition to a woman. She will now use she/her pronouns.
Reverend Phil Phaneuf, 51, shared this news during Sunday service. The announcement took place at North Chili United Methodist Church (UMC). Phaneuf confirmed her ongoing gender transition.
“I joyfully announce my transition,” the pastor stated. She wore a rainbow stole during her declaration. “I am transgender,” she affirmed to her audience. “I am not becoming a woman. Instead, I am stopping my pretense of being a man.”
Phaneuf’s new name is Phillippa Faye Phaneuf. She will still use Reverend Phil professionally.
“I won’t enforce pronoun use,” she informed the church. “I believe no one will intentionally misgender or misuse pronouns maliciously.”
Phaneuf explained that her transition involves physical changes only. She has undergone hormone replacement therapy for three months. She reassured members of her unwavering faith and dedication to service.
Phaneuf stressed her unchanging commitment. Her devotion to Jesus Christ and her ministry continues.
