Nollywood actor Prince Eke has condemned the life imprisonment sentence given to Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu as a political maneuver. Eke alleged authorities plan to release Kanu before the 2027 elections and leverage his freedom to secure Igbo votes.
In a Friday Instagram post, Eke stated: “Let us call it what it is, MNK’s life sentence was a political stunt. They plan to release him in 2027 and use his freedom to bargain for Igbo votes. This isn’t justice. It’s exploitation. Nigerians are awake. We see the script, and we’re not fooled.”
Meanwhile, Deputy House Speaker Benjamin Kalu expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s openness to Igbo leaders’ appeals regarding Kanu. Kalu’s Chief Press Secretary Livinus Nwabughiogu issued the statement in Abuja.
Kalu emphasized that political solutions remain possible for Kanu’s release. He urged Southeast residents and all Nigerians to maintain calm. The deputy speaker affirmed that hope persists despite the conviction.
