Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido has dismissed as fake news reports claiming he withdrew a court case against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He clarified that the court ruled in his favor, preventing the party’s National Convention in Ibadan from proceeding.
Court Upholds Lamido’s Candidacy Rights
Lamido stated the Federal High Court affirmed his right to contest the PDP National Chairmanship position. The ruling voids the convention plans since he was denied participation. In an official Facebook statement on Friday, he denied meeting Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to settle the case.
“The story attributed to me is false,” Lamido declared. “The court delivered judgment affirming my right to contest the chairmanship.” He confirmed receiving numerous calls from concerned PDP members nationwide after the false reports circulated.
Convention Ban Formally Served
The court order prohibiting the November 15-16 Ibadan convention remains enforced. Certified copies have been delivered to both the PDP and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Lamido condemned the misinformation as malicious and misleading.
He reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing legal rights within the party. The former governor urged PDP members and the public to disregard the false withdrawal claims.
