Nollywood actress Annie Idibia has responded to online criticism regarding her interaction with a social media post targeting colleague Regina Daniels. The controversy emerged amidst ongoing marital tensions between Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
The contentious post by Laila Charani alleged that Regina Daniels introduced her to drugs six years ago, nearly destroying Charani’s marriage to Nwoko. Charani made these claims while disputing Daniels’ assertion of having financially supported her in the past.
According to Charani, the current conflict between Daniels and Nwoko stems from the senator’s insistence that Daniels address her alleged “drug and alcohol addiction.” Charani emphasized Nwoko’s longstanding stance against substance use among his partners.
Netizens noted Annie Idibia’s engagement with Charani’s post, sparking criticism given Daniels’ past support for Idibia during her separation from musician 2Baba. Many expressed disappointment at what appeared to be Idibia endorsing negative claims against Daniels.
Addressing the backlash, Idibia clarified her action was accidental: “In the process of reading the rubbish that was alleged about my baby Regina, I liked the post mistakenly.” She firmly reaffirmed her loyalty to Daniels, stating: “Over here, we don’t play with loyalty. My baby knows I have her back, front and side. Make una rest abeg.”
