Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau has firmly denied allegations that the Super Eagles are owed unpaid bonuses spanning 30 matches. During an interview with Elegbete TV, Gusau clarified that the federation has resolved all outstanding payments to the national team.
“Reports of 30-match arrears are untrue,” Gusau stated. “Following last year’s AFCON, we negotiated with team leaders to prevent financial issues during World Cup qualifiers. We reached full agreement and cleared all dues.”
The NFF president explained that a new payment structure has been established with the National Sports Commission. This system ensures timely disbursement before matches. “We now provide appearance fees through the commission before every game,” Gusau confirmed.
Team captain William Troost-Ekong separately addressed rumors about player demands. He denied claims that athletes requested $15,000 per playoff match. “We’ll officially confirm any resolutions. Other statements are false. Our focus remains on upcoming matches,” Troost-Ekong emphasized.
