Harry Kane Has Unlocked That Next Level Himself – Bayern Munich Coach, Kompany Says

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has stated that Harry Kane’s exceptional performance this season is a result of the striker’s own relentless drive and hard work, rather than any tactical influence or coaching intervention.

Kane’s Impressive Form

Kane has been in sensational form, scoring 11 goals in just six Bundesliga matches and amassing a total of 18 goals across all competitions. His contributions have been pivotal in Bayern Munich’s ten consecutive victories, maintaining their unbeaten streak in both domestic and European competitions.

Additionally, the England captain netted a brace in the national team’s 5-0 victory over Latvia on Tuesday, a result that secured their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Kompany’s Perspective on Kane’s Development

When questioned about Kane’s recent comments that credited him for his improvement, Kompany was quick to deflect the praise.

“He has unlocked that next level himself,” Kompany told journalists ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund. “He has always done it in his career. His development is a mentality thing. He worked every year. Maybe it helped that he had not won the titles until then, because he kept that hunger that you expect from young players.”

Kane, widely regarded as one of the finest strikers of his generation, secured numerous individual awards during his tenure at Tottenham Hotspur but only ended his wait for a major trophy last season when Bayern Munich clinched the Bundesliga title.

“You cannot develop such a player further,” Kompany added. “He has to want it.”

Key Match Against Borussia Dortmund

The Belgian coach will rely on Kane’s sharpness once more when Bayern host Dortmund in a match that could significantly influence the early title race. Dortmund, currently second and four points behind, have conceded only once in their last five league matches and remain unbeaten across all competitions.

“It’s first against second, both teams unbeaten,” Kompany said. “It is clear why this match is being made so big. We are both undefeated so it is two fists going against each other.”

Positive Update on Alphonso Davies

Kompany also shared encouraging news regarding Alphonso Davies, who has been sidelined with a severe knee injury. The 23-year-old left-back might return to action sooner than initially expected.

“I had initially hoped that he would be back at the beginning of January. But as things stand now, he may be back a little earlier,” Kompann revealed. “If he can play a few more games in December, then everyone has done a wonderful job. His body has to respond to the new strain week after week. If things continue to go well, then a very fit Alphonso will be back in December.”
