Jonathan Meets Turaki-Led PDP Faction to Discuss 2027 Presidency Prospects
A closed‑door meeting was held in Abuja between former President Goodluck Jonathan and a delegation from the Taminu Turaki‑led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The meeting came shortly after a Federal High Court judgment in a suit filed by the party’s Board of Trustees. Justice Salim Ibrahim ruled that the plaintiffs lacked legal standing, that the court had no jurisdiction, and that the case sought to reopen issues already settled in earlier proceedings.
Although neither Jonathan nor the PDP officially disclosed the agenda, party sources told Vanguard that the delegation briefed the former president on the court’s outcome and asked for his perspective on the way forward for the party amid its ongoing leadership crisis.
The sources said the discussion centred on the implications of the judgment and how it affects the party’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
