Bwala Criticises Media and Opposition for Ignoring Trump’s Praise of Tinubu
Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has labelled the opposition as jobless while reacting to a letter from United States President Donald Trump commending Tinubu’s leadership.
According to a statement from the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Trump’s letter dated July 6, 2026 praised Tinubu for his decisive actions against terrorism and insecurity, especially attacks on Christian communities.
Bwala argued that Nigerians are more interested in hearing about the country’s economic and security progress rather than idle opposition rhetoric.
He stated, “The opposition is jobless; let them continue to loiter. Nigerians want to know what is happening with their lives.”
The presidential aide emphasised that citizens want updates on the economy, education and, most importantly, security, noting that substantial progress has been made.
Bwala also highlighted that Tinubu’s collaboration with the United States marks a historic first for Nigeria.
He said, “This is the first time in Nigeria’s history that Tinubu’s leadership has fostered a very strong partnership with the US government. The letter from the US administration applauds the President for deeper cooperation, yet the media and opposition remain silent on this development.”
He questioned, “Is it fair to Nigerians who wish to see that this country’s progress is yielding tangible results from such cooperation?”
