DJ Chicken Regains Freedom After Meeting Bail Conditions
Controversial Nigerian content creator Ademola Abiodun, widely known as DJ Chicken, has been released from custody after satisfying the bail terms set by a Lagos Magistrate Court.
His lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, shared the news on Instagram Stories, writing, “All glory to God. DJ Chicken.”
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore also announced the release on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing that no one should endure oppression while others stay silent.
Shortly after his release, DJ Chicken appeared in an Instagram livestream from inside a vehicle, smiling and engaging with his followers; his lawyer was visible alongside him.
The content creator had been arrested following a viral video in which he allegedly threatened Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and claimed the president would not win re‑election in 2027.
Authorities charged him with three counts — violating the Cybercrimes Act, breaching the peace, and making threats to kill — after the video spread online.
DJ Chicken later apologized, stating the remarks were meant as a joke to gain attention, but he remained in custody until he fulfilled the court’s bail requirements.
The magistrate granted bail of ₦1 million, requiring two sureties of equal value, one a civil servant and the other a recognized community leader with landed property in Lagos.
Additional conditions included three years of tax clearance certificates, utility bills, NIN details, Lagos State Residents Registration Agency documents, and that one surety be a blood relative.
Although he was initially remanded while perfecting bail, DJ Chicken has now met all conditions and reunited with his family and friends.
The case has been adjourned to August 3, 2026, for further proceedings.
