Adebutu Accuses All Nigerian Governors of Embezzling Local Govt Funds
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, alleged that every governor in Nigeria is diverting local government allocations for personal gain.
Promise of Full Financial Autonomy for LGAs
Speaking at a gathering of traditional rulers, Adebutu vowed that his administration would grant local governments complete financial independence, stating that LGAs would receive their own money directly.
Accusations Transcend Party Lines
He stressed that the problem is not limited to any political party, asserting that both APC and PDP governors are involved in the misappropriation of local government funds.
Infrastructure Financing Without Borrowing
On infrastructure development, Adebutu argued that governments should stop relying on loans and instead adopt innovative financing methods. He pledged to build roads that would enhance connectivity between Ogun State and Lagos.
Adebutu also highlighted his personal record, noting that he had served twice in the National Assembly without ever embezzling public funds, challenging other politicians to make the same claim.
