Borno Governor Zulum Commends Tinubu for Keeping Shettima as Running Mate
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has praised President Bola Tinubu for renominating Senator Kashim Shettima as his vice‑presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Speaking on behalf of the Northern governors, Zulum noted that this marks the first time an indigene of Borno and the Northeast has risen to the office of Vice President and been retained for a possible second term.
“I am here to thank President Tinubu for renominating one of our sons, Senator Kashim Shettima, as Vice President and to seek his permission for a delegation from the northeastern states to pay him a thank‑you visit,” Zulum said. “The president has graciously granted this request.”
He added that, while previous attempts during the Kingibe era fell short, this achievement represents a historic milestone for the region.
Zulum emphasized that the vice‑presidential seat belongs not only to Borno but to the entire Northern Nigeria, and he thanked the northern states for embracing their son.
