APC National Chairman Visits Senator Hanga in Kano to Discuss Unity and Peace
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, visited Senator Rufai Sani Hanga of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano on Wednesday. The courtesy call was described as cordial and centred on fostering unity, peace, stability and the future of Kano State.
According to a statement issued by Yilwatda, the discussion highlighted the shared responsibility of political leaders, regardless of party affiliation, to promote peace, strengthen democratic values and work in the best interest of the people. He stressed that sustained engagement among leaders would help build a more united, peaceful and prosperous Kano and Nigeria.
“Today, I paid a courtesy visit to Senator Rufai Hanga, one of the leading stalwarts of the NDC in Kano State,” Yilwatda said on 𝕏. “Our discussions were cordial and focused on the unity, peace, stability, and future of Kano State. Regardless of political affiliation, leaders share a common responsibility to promote peace, strengthen democratic values, and work together for the welfare of our citizens.”
The visit occurs amid intensified APC efforts to persuade Senator Hanga to defect to the ruling party. The APC claims that the senator was humiliated and sidelined by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, after Kwankwaso refused to offer him an elective position within the NDC.
The APC has appealed to Senator Hanga to join Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the party, assuring him that his contributions would be valued and appreciated within the APC ranks.
