Governor Uba Sani Launches Compensation for Ring Road Affected Families
The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has assured residents that no citizen will lose their property without receiving adequate compensation. He emphasized that public interest can never justify injustice and that meaningful development must be pursued with compassion and fairness.
Speaking at the commencement of the compensation exercise, Governor Sani recalled that after the groundbreaking of the Ring Road project, it became clear that certain households and structures lay within the designated right‑of‑way. He described the situation as both an engineering challenge and a moral obligation.
“At that point we faced not merely a technical issue but a duty to balance the public interest with the rights and dignity of individuals,” he said. Consequently, his administration decided to temporarily slow certain construction activities to allow a thorough, transparent, and equitable assessment of all affected properties and utilities.
Today, the distribution of compensation cheques to 122 households along the Ring Road corridor has begun. Governor Sani thanked the affected families for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the process, acknowledging the emotional and practical burdens that relocation or adjustment can impose.
He stressed that the payout is not an act of charity but an act of justice, intended to enable households to rebuild, relocate, reorganise, and continue their lives with dignity and confidence.
Governor Sani noted that his administration has consistently compensated households impacted by various projects since taking office. To date, Kaduna State has disbursed more than ₦3 billion in compensation across initiatives such as:
- 189 households in Rigasa under the Rigasa Township Roads Project
- 120 households in Mahuta on the Rabah Road Project
- 282 households from Magajiya to Albarkawa in Zaria
- 14 households from Audi to Kako
- 86 households linking Dogon Bauchi to Kakiyeyi
- 33 households along the Kabala Costain corridor
He reiterated that his government‑development to ensure processes remain transparent, verifiable, equitable.
He affirmed that his administration will continue to uphold the principle that development must be pursued with justice, compassion, and integrity, warning that progress loses its moral purpose if it leaves citizens behind.
