Carlos Queiroz Confident Ghana Can Exploit Colombia’s Weaknesses in 2026 World Cup Round of 32
Ghana’s head coach Carlos Queiroz expressed confidence that his side can identify and exploit Colombia’s vulnerabilities when they meet in the Round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Although Colombia topped Group K ahead of Portugal with an unbeaten run, Queiroz acknowledged their quality but insisted Ghana possesses the talent and determination needed to cause an upset.
Queiroz, who previously coached Colombia from 2019 to 2020, noted that his knowledge of the current Colombian squad is up‑to‑date. He compared the present team to the side he led at the Copa América, highlighting their strengths while reminding that no side is flawless.
“We know the players well,” he said. “We must study today’s Colombia, not yesterday’s. The squad has many qualities, but we also have players of high quality and a strong, determined mindset. Our task is to play our game, leverage our positive attributes, and target the weaker points of the Colombian side.”
He stressed that there are no perfect teams; Colombia is excellent but not invincible, and Ghana is likewise capable but not flawless.
The veteran coach warned that in a knockout match there is no margin for error; every minute must be executed correctly, whether the game ends after 90 minutes or goes into extra time.
He added that the pressure of such a high‑stakes encounter is a privilege, not a burden, and that the team will embrace the challenge of facing top talent on football’s biggest stage.
