APC Drops Suswam, Elegbeleye and 24 Others from Final NASS Candidates List
The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has removed former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam and former House of Representatives member Gbenga Elegbeleye from the party’s final list of National Assembly candidates for the 2027 general elections.
In addition to these two high‑profile drops, the APC replaced five senatorial aspirants and 19 House of Representatives candidates after reviewing the outcomes of its primary election appeal process.
The changes affect constituencies in nine states: Kogi, Abia, Benue, Taraba, Ondo, Niger, Kwara, Kaduna and Ebonyi.
A document obtained by The Nation shows that the revised list has been forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through a joint letter signed by APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru.
Details of the Senatorial Substitutions
In Benue North East, Gabriel Suswam lost the ticket to Emmanuel Memga Udende, while Benjamin T. Aber was replaced by Titus Tartenger Zam in Benue North West.
Ondo State saw Gbenga Elegbeleye replaced by Olajide Ipinsagbe for the Ondo North Senatorial District, and Adeniyi Adegbonmire take the place of Taiwo Fasorati in Ondo Central.

- Prince Paul Ikonne replacing Edinburgh Uchenna Erondu in Abia South
- Shuibu Isa Lau replacing Mohammed Kabir Bello in Taraba North
House of Representatives Adjustments
The review also led to changes in 19 House of Representatives seats across the affected states.
In Benue State, five candidates were substituted, including:
- Ikper Chris Terfa (Makurdi/Guma) replaced by Dickson Tarkighir
- Livinus Tsar Adzor (Vandeikya/Konshisha) replaced by Sesoo Ikpagher
Ondo State recorded six substitutions, such as Donald Ojogo taking over from Akingboye Leke in Ilaje/Ese‑Odo and Festus Olarewaju replacing Rasaq Obe in Idanre/Ifedore.
