Pastor Attempted to Cover Alex Ekubo’s Medical Bills but Was Denied Access
Popular Nollywood actress Victoria Inyama has responded to a recent statement from the family of the late actor Alex Ekubo, shedding new light on the circumstances surrounding his illness and treatment.
Inyama alleges that during Alex’s hospitalization, a well‑known Nigerian pastor stepped forward with an offer to pay for medical care anywhere in the world.
According to her, the cleric’s efforts were repeatedly rebuffed by those close to Alex, who insisted that he was fine and did not require assistance.
The actress said the pastor made several attempts to gain access and provide help, but each time was turned away.
Inyama added that the pastor only learned of Alex’s death after the fact and was never informed while the actor was still in the hospital.
She emphasized that the cleric was not offering spiritual miracles but was prepared to foot any medical bill, insisting that better treatment options existed that could have been explored.
In a post on her Instagram page, Victoria wrote:
“@davidekubo I know how difficult it was for you to come here….I know how far you went for a dialogue……this may not be the best but that’s fine……..without mentioning names….one of the biggest/ Kindest Pastor in Nigeria tried to help but was always told by Her that Alex is Fine!……
D Pastor [redacted] pushed to get access but was always blocked…..If that Pastor was allowed access, whatever it would cost in this world, we would have all rallied round Abroad……. The Pastor was Not even told when Alewas in hospital, he was only called when Alex died….bear in mind that the Pastor was not offering ‘miracle ‘ he is very Practical and was ready to foot any medical bill any where in the world…..any genuine mother would accept help to try anything and everything……that’s the part that hurts me……cancer has multiple treatment options these days but it’s all good. Nnam biko just remember Dède is very vulnerable now 😭.”
Her remarks follow a public accusation by Alex Ekubo’s family that his stepmother blocked access to him during his illness and only reached out after his passing.
