Zamfara NDC Chairman Addresses Deregistration Claims
The Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Zamfara State, Surajo Garba Maikatako, has described the party’s alleged deregistration as a temporary legal challenge rather than a permanent setback.
Maikatako emphasized that the NDC remains legally recognised and fully operational, noting that the party’s leadership has already clarified the matter to members and the public.
He characterised the recent Federal High Court ruling as a temporary legal hurdle, insisting that the party has satisfied all constitutional and statutory requirements.
The state chairman affirmed that party structures remain intact from the polling unit level up to the national level, and that its candidates — including the governorship aspirant Senator Kabiru Marafa — remain valid contenders for the 2027 general elections.
Maikatako urged supporters across Zamfara to stay united and focused, warning that the development should not demoralise members or weaken party cohesion.
He also expressed confidence in the national leadership of the NDC and highlighted Senator Kabiru Marafa as a central figure in the party’s political ambitions for the forthcoming elections.
