Presidency Says Peter Obi Poses No Threat to Tinubu in Lagos
Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication to President Bola Tinubu, Sunday Dare, declared that the administration is not threatened by the political ambitions of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Dare acknowledged that Obi had once been seen as a challenge and even a nightmare, but stressed that the current government stands firm on its record of performance.
He said, “This government is not afraid of Peter Obi. The same right he has to ask Tinubu to resign is the same right the administration has to reply that the president will not step down; there is no justification for such a resignation.”
He added that citizens can exercise their democratic rights through regular elections, not only for the presidency but also for the National Assembly, and that is where Obi can seek redress.
“Nobody is afraid of Peter Obi,” Dare concluded. “He is not a nightmare; maybe before he was a threat, but right now he poses no threat because we stand on solid ground of performance.”
