Kebbi Senator Garba Maidoki Defects from APC to ADC
The senator representing Kebbi South, Garba Maidoki, has announced his departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In his resignation letter addressed to the Senate President and fellow lawmakers, Maidoki said his decision stemmed from ongoing internal crises within the APC that have undermined his political motivation.
He stated, “My decision is based on the lingering internal crisis of the APC that has made my political inspiration a source of concern.”
The lawmaker accused the party of failing to live up to its slogan of justice, peace and unity, particularly during the recently concluded primary elections in Kebbi State.
He added, “The All Progressives Congress has not exhibited its slogan of justice, peace, and unity, especially in Kebbi State during the just‑concluded primary elections.”
Maidoki said he believes the ADC will better guarantee his political aspirations.
Responding to the defection, a fellow APC member, Jibrin, disputed the claim of an internal crisis, saying there is no crisis and offering to help reconcile the situation.
Jibrin remarked, “If you allow me, I can come in to reconcile you.”
Garba Maidoki currently chairs the Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance and serves as vice‑chairman of the Committee on Information and National Orientation.
