Labour Party Chieftain Accuses Peter Obi of Abandoning Supporters
Former National Youth Leader of the Labour Party, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, has criticised the party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for allegedly abandoning those who support him and failing to create lasting political structures.
Ahanotu argued that Obi’s political career shows a habit of jumping from one platform to another without strengthening any of them, insisting that true leadership lies in building institutions and empowering followers rather than relying on personal popularity alone.
He declared, “Peter Obi is not a builder of men; he abandons his own people.”
The ex‑youth leader stressed that strong political leadership should be judged by the ability to nurture loyal structures that endure beyond an individual’s influence.
Presidency Rebukes Obi’s Call for Tinubu’s Resignation
In a related development, the Presidency recently condemned Peter Obi’s demand that President Bola Tinubu step down, describing the remark as reckless and lacking constitutional grounding.
Sunday Dare, Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication to the President, said Obi’s comment was not the intervention of a statesman but “the outburst of a politician” unable to distinguish between legitimate opposition and constitutional reality.
Dare reminded that Nigeria operates as a constitutional presidential democracy, not a parliamentary system where governments rise and fall on votes of confidence, and that Obi, as a former governor and presidential candidate, ought to understand the constitutional foundations of the office he seeks.
The presidential aide accused Obi of embracing pessimism, alarmism and repeated declarations of national collapse.
