PDP Wins Rivers South-East Senatorial By-Election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Senator Olaka Nwogu the winner of the Rivers South-East senatorial by-election held on Saturday.
According to the results, Action Alliance (AA) candidate Douglas Beke Fabeke received 1,175 votes, while All Progressives Congress (APC) contender Osarosaka Ebenezer polled 1,647 votes. The Labour Party (LP) nominee Sam Bariboa garnered 367 votes.
Senator Nwogu will succeed the late Senator Barinada Mpigi, who passed away while in office on February 19, 2026.
All participating parties and candidates were reported to be part of the Rainbow coalition formed ahead of the 2027 elections by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
