Umahi Challenges Obidients Over Peter Obi’s Governorship Record
Minister of Works Dave Umahi has challenged the Obidients movement to show what their principal, Peter Obi, achieved during his tenure as governor of Anambra State.
He said anyone wishing to criticize him should do so constructively.
Umahi stated, “Those who claim I’m not on the ballot are mistaken; I am on the ballot. For the Obidients insulting me, let’s be objective. What did your principal accomplish as governor?”
He listed his own political trajectory—party chairman, deputy governor, governor, senator, and minister—and urged supporters of Obi to present his credentials for comparison.
“You have no right to insult me,” he added, “but if you call on the president, I will call on you.”
Umahi also accused Obi of repeatedly attacking his integrity and personality.
Speaking at the launch of the Akwanga‑Jos superhighway construction, he claimed Obi lacks understanding of governance.
He criticized the former Anambra governor for turning a bad road segment into a social‑media spectacle to gain cheap political points.
“I feel sad when my brother, the former governor of Anambra State, who should know what administration entails, reduces governance to comedy,” Umahi said.
He added that he is always ready for a debate, even offering to break down the unit cost of concrete to discuss the issue.
