Tinubu Confirms Kashim Shettima as His 2027 Presidential Running Mate
President Bola Tinubu has officially designated Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election. The confirmation came in the form of a certificate presented by the President during a meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Abuja.
The presentation was captured in a video shared on Thursday by presidential media aide Dada Olusegun on his 𝕏 account. In the clip, Tinubu hands the certificate to Shettima while stating that the Vice President will join him on the ticket for the upcoming election.
The APC leadership meeting, held at the Aso Rock Villa, was attended by key party figures. The National Working Committee, led by its Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Progressive Governors Forum, headed by Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma, were both present.
During the gathering, the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, announced that Tinubu and Shettima would be the APC’s presidential and vice‑presidential candidates for 2027. Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, in his capacity as APC National Chairman, also reiterated the party’s decision to field the duo in the next election.
The move solidifies the Tinubu‑Shettima partnership ahead of the 2027 general election, signalling the APC’s intention to maintain continuity in its leadership.
