Tekno Comments on Modern Love and Marriage Challenges
In a recent Cool FM interview, Nigerian singer Tekno shared his view that love and commitment have shifted dramatically in recent years, especially after the COVID‑19 pandemic.
He explained that the lockdown forced many couples to spend extended time together, revealing hidden issues and making some realise their relationships were weaker than they thought.
According to Tekno, this experience has left people more guarded about giving their full hearts, leading to a reluctance to love deeply.
The artist went on to say that many marriages are now struggling in today’s social climate.
He remarked, “People got to spend time with their partners during that period, so maybe they realised they don’t really like them. Since then, people have leaned into not wanting to love as much. Marriages don’t work. You even see some of our legends’ wives getting chopped by some of the new boys.”
Tekno added that love once felt genuine, with movies centred around real romance, whereas today’s films focus more on clout and influencing, lacking the organic feel of earlier eras.
