Sunday Oliseh Says Morocco Could Have Beaten Brazil With Osimhen or Lookman
Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh expressed confidence that Morocco possessed the quality to defeat Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, arguing they would have secured a comfortable victory if they had attackers akin to Victor Osimhen or Ademola Lookman.
Oliseh shared his view on his X account after Morocco held five‑time champions Brazil to a 1‑1 draw in their Group C encounter on Saturday.
Brazil equalised 11 minutes later through Vinícius Júnior, who struck a superb volley into the far corner to restore parity in a tightly contested match.
Reacting to the result, Oliseh praised Morocco’s defensive and offensive organisation, stating they deserved more from the game.
He wrote, “Impressive performance by this Moroccan side, defensively and offensively well structured. Had this team had ‘Victor Osimhen or Ademola Lookman’‑type players versus Brazil, they could have won by three goals to one at worst.”
The former Super Eagles captain added that Brazil were fortunate to escape with a point, highlighting the influence of Vinícius Júnior and Raphinha.
“Brazil looked deceptive and thank God they had Vinícius Júnior and Raphinha. I loved the belief and evolution shown by the Moroccans,” he added.
The draw reinforced belief that Morocco can build on their historic World Cup achievements after becoming the first African nation to reach a semi‑final, a feat they accomplished in the 2022 edition.
Morocco will now focus on their crucial Group C clash against Scotland scheduled for June 19.
