Sergio Agüero Urges Atlético Madrid to Sell Julián Álvarez
Former Argentina international Sergio Agüero has added his voice to the growing chorus calling for Atlético Madrid to allow Julián Álvarez to depart. Agüero insists that retaining a player who is unhappy will only create problems for the squad.
Álvarez recently made his desire to leave public, stating that a transfer would be the best outcome for everyone involved. His comments have fuelled speculation about a possible move to FC Barcelona.
Speaking to Jijantes FC, Agüero reacted to the striker’s remarks:
“He says he met with the club and decided a transfer is the best option. It’s very difficult. When a player isn’t happy, each club takes their own stance and the player ends up losing out.”

The former Manchester City forward added that Atlético should focus on finding a solution rather than forcing Álvarez to stay:
“If he’s not comfortable, the best thing is to find a solution and sell him. You’re not going to have a player in a bad mood all year round.”

Agüero also backed Barcelona as the ideal destination for his compatriot, describing Álvarez as a perfect fit for the Catalan club’s style of play.
Atlético Madrid have remained reluctant to part with one of their prized assets, repeatedly pointing to Álvarez’s hefty release clause as a deterrent for potential buyers. However, reports suggest the forward feels disappointed and frustrated after allegedly being assured he could leave if Barcelona tabled an offer between €90 million and €100 million.
