Phyna Opens Up About Changing Views on Marriage
Former Big Brother Naija champion Phyna has shared a candid reflection on how ageing is reshaping her thoughts about marriage. She said that turning 29 has made her realise that the stage of life she once thought was far off has arrived much sooner than expected.
Looking back to when she was 22 or 23, Phyna recalled seeing 29 as a distant milestone. Now that she is living through it, many things are becoming clearer to her.
The reality star also spoke about her past attitude toward women in their early 30s who were not married. At that time, she believed there was something wrong with them and often wondered why they had not settled down.
Phyna admitted that her earlier thinking was unfair. As she approaches the same age, she now understands that being unmarried in one’s early 30s does not indicate a problem. She noted that many of the women she once judged were simply living their lives, and their marital status was nothing unusual.
She summed up her realisation with a candid remark: “I’m just thinking out loud. I remember when I was 22, 23 then, you know, 29 was so far away, but now this is 29 and everything is just dawning on me.”
She added, “I remember that time all those my aunties that were like in their early 30s that they are not married. I’d be like, ‘Auntie, you no go marry? Auntie, you no marry?’ Like then it was looking like the auntie get problem.
“Guys. Guys. We sef don dey touch am o. Auntie no get problem. I swear. Our aunties, they did have problem. No single problem.”
