PDP Candidate Vows to Block Bala Mohammed’s Successor Plan
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Bauchi State, Adamu Usman Ahmed, has declared that he will work to thwart Governor Bala Mohammed’s attempt to hand over power to a favoured successor.
Ahmed pointed out that no governor in Bauchi’s history has successfully installed a successor, which he believes strengthens the opposition’s chances of winning the upcoming election.
He noted that Bauchi voters have a tradition of making independent political decisions and are unlikely to endorse any move perceived as imposing a new leader.
“The people of Bauchi are always wise,” Ahmed said. “Looking at the history of the state, no governor has successfully installed a successor. That is why I believe the opposition has a strong chance of winning.”
The candidate added that the political landscape has shifted, with more parties now contesting the election.
“Unlike the past when elections were mainly between two parties, this time there are about seven or eight parties in the race. Having many candidates gives us an advantage,” he stated.
Ahmed also pledged to prioritise job creation if elected governor, saying that reducing unemployment would be the top focus of his administration.
“Our major target will be job creation,” he said, adding that his government would strive to provide opportunities for young people and improve livelihoods across Bauchi State.
