A Nigerian traveler voiced his distress online after being refused entry into Mauritius, even though he arrived with all necessary travel paperwork for a holiday.
In a widely circulated clip on X (previously Twitter), he explained that he had gone to the island for leisure, had pre‑booked accommodations and tour sites, yet immigration officers allegedly turned him away and expelled him together with other passengers.
“Mauritius withdrew our visa after we landed. Everyone seems to be pushing Nigerians out of their nation,” he lamented.
He said the group was taken aside for interrogation and reportedly handled like offenders despite having fulfilled every pre‑travel requirement.
He also noted that he possessed his hotel booking, yellow fever certificate, proof of sufficient funds and the additional documents requested, but was still allegedly barred solely on the basis of his Nigerian nationality.
“I had reserved a five‑star hotel, arranged three tour destinations, carried my yellow card, held all required paperwork and even the cash they asked for. They sent us back just because we are Nigerians,” he added.
The footage has ignited online discussion, with numerous Nigerians voicing irritation over the perceived mistreatment of their citizens abroad linked to the country’s reputation.
The matter remains a hot topic on social platforms, as conversations intensify regarding how Nigerians are treated while overseas.
