A Nigerian traveler recounted a harrowing incident that occurred during his journey from Osun State to Lagos, after his car broke down in Ibadan late at night.
He explained that, due to the prevailing insecurity, he opted to stay at a closeby hotel, and a stranded woman pleaded to accompany him, fearing to remain alone.
He posted the ordeal on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“Last night, while travelling back to Lagos from Osun, our car broke down in Ibadan around 9 p.m. A girl who was sitting beside me begged me to take her along because she was also scared of staying there alone.”
Although he hesitated at first, he ultimately conceded after her earnest pleas, choosing to sleep on the floor while she took the bed.
The following morning, he grew anxious after repeated attempts to wake her failed, leading him to fear the worst before she finally awoke several hours later.
“I tapped her again and again, but there was no response. That was when I realized I was finished. I started calling my pastor for prayers because I knew I was in trouble.” After two hours, she woke up and said she had been in a family prayer session in the spirit, he added.
The incident triggered a wave of online reactions, with many netizens describing it as both amusing and frightening.
He said he felt relieved, believing that had the outcome been different, few would have trusted his version of events.
