Manchester United Complete £50m Signing of Andrey Santos
Manchester United have finalized the acquisition of Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos from Chelsea in a deal potentially worth £50 million.
The club confirmed the transfer, noting a base fee of £48 million, £2 million in performance-related add-ons, and a 10 percent sell‑on clause, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Santos has agreed to a five‑year contract at Old Trafford, with an optional extra year, as United continue to bolster their squad ahead of the new campaign.
The 22‑year‑old arrived at Chelsea in January 2023 from Vasco da Gama but spent much of his time away from Stamford Bridge on loan.
His development flourished during an 18‑month stint at RC Strasbourg, where he helped the French side qualify for the UEFA Conference League and was named Ligue 1 Young Player of the Month in March 2024.
Santos returned to Chelsea in the summer of 2025 and was part of the squad that lifted the FIFA Club World Cup, making 47 first‑team appearances for the Blues before his departure.
Chelsea released a statement thanking Santos for his contributions and wishing him success in the next stage of his career.
United view the Brazilian as a key addition to their midfield, hoping he will secure regular playing time after limited opportunities at Chelsea.
The signing could be the first of two moves for the Red Devils this week, with Aston Villa’s Youri Tielemans also linked after a proposed deal for Atalanta’s Ederson fell through due to a medical issue.
