Manchester City Seal Club‑Record £116m Deal for Elliot Anderson
Manchester City have agreed a club‑record £116 million deal with Nottingham Forest to sign England midfielder Elliot Anderson. The fee is understood to be a straight payment with no add‑ons, although some reports suggest the total could rise to £130 million, which would surpass the current British transfer record.
The 23‑year‑old is expected to undergo a medical before completing his move to the Etihad Stadium. Club sources say personal terms are not likely to delay the transfer, and both parties are confident the deal will be finalised once the fee is settled.
Forest had previously turned down two bids from City before accepting an improved third offer. The agreement paves the way for Anderson to join the Premier League champions, potentially making him the most expensive British player ever.
With Anderson’s departure imminent, Nottingham Forest are already scouting midfield reinforcements. Tottenham youngster Lucas Bergvall and Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi are among the names being linked as possible replacements.
Despite the transfer speculation, Anderson has said he is fully focused on England’s World Cup campaign. He is preparing for Saturday’s final Group L match against Panama and stressed that he is blocking out the distraction.
“It’s pretty easy really, I’m just focusing on the present, I’m blocking it all out.”

Anderson joined Forest from Newcastle in 2024 for £35 million and went on to make 88 appearances, scoring four goals. He played a key role as Forest finished seventh in the Premier League in 2024‑25 before dropping to 16th place last season and reaching the Europa League semi‑finals.
