A Nigerian gentleman has stirred discussion online after explaining why he declined to allow his neighbor’s domestic worker to take shelter in his home during a downpour.
He shared on social media that the worker had just finished school when the rain began, and her employer was absent.
Man’s Reasoning
He said he felt uneasy leaving the youngster outside in the rain, yet he chose not to invite her inside because he worried the gesture could be misinterpreted.
He wrote: “My neighbor’s house help returned from school while I was alone and it was raining. I did not invite her to wait inside. I left her out in the rain. I felt uncomfortable but felt compelled to act this way. I do not want to find myself in a scenario where only I would trust my own account.”
Online Reaction
The post attracted varied responses; some users sympathized with his fear of false accusations, while others contended he could have devised a safer means to assist the worker without compromising his own position, especially given the weather.
