A woman ignited lively discussion online after sharing how her supposed Yahoo neighbor unknowingly praised a generator she had discreetly purchased from him via Facebook Marketplace.
She explained that she found one of his listings while scrolling through Facebook Marketplace, noting that the neighbor, whom she called a ‘Yahoo guy,’ had originally bought the generator for about ₦450,000 the year before and was now selling it for ₦250,000.
To stay anonymous, she conducted the negotiation using a friend’s Facebook profile.
The seller later consented to lower the price to ₦200,000 and arranged to meet her acquaintance at a nearby junction to finalize the deal.
How the generator ended up back in the compound
Her friend picked up the generator for her, and she retrieved it later that night, storing it at her residence without the seller knowing its destination.
The next morning, the neighbor stopped by her flat to charge his phone, creating an uncomfortable moment.
She noted that he kept glancing at the generator after spotting it on her porch.
She recalled him remarking, ‘This generator looks just like mine; they’re practically twins.’
Online Reaction to the Incident
The tale sparked broad conversation online; many found the episode amusing, while others raised concerns about the hazards of purchasing goods covertly from a nearby resident.
Several commentators questioned whether the event was real or just another lighthearted social media story, given its continued spread across various networks.
