Lady Shares Experience After Sending ₦3,000 to Someone in Need
A woman sparked online discussion after expressing disappointment when the person she helped financially replied with only an indifferent comment.
She explained that the individual had contacted her the night before requesting three thousand naira.
She quickly agreed to assist and asked for the recipient’s bank details to make the transfer.
After receiving the account information, the requester asked for an additional amount beyond the original sum.
The lady politely declined the extra request, noting her own financial obligations, but still sent the agreed ₦3,000.
Her Reaction to the Received Response
She recalled saying, “People are ungrateful, I swear. Someone asked me for 3k last night, I said okay, send your account, then they replied ‘you could add something,’ but I explained I couldn’t due to personal and family responsibilities, yet I still sent the three thousand. After I transferred the money, all I got was ‘I’ve seen it.’ That was it. I’m not expecting worship for three thousand, but I realized these are the kinds of people who don’t even appreciate the bare minimum.”
Online Debate on Gratitude and Financial Help
The post attracted reactions from social media users, many of whom agreed that gratitude should not depend on the size of the gift. Others pointed out that a simple “thank you” is a basic courtesy, especially when the giver is also managing their own financial constraints.
The conversation has revived broader discussions about gratitude, entitlement, and the expectations that often accompany financial assistance between friends and acquaintances.
